Below is a summary of the shark diving tour and the requirements that we need to take a booking.

The Shark Cage Diving Tour

Shark and Safari provides shark cage diving tours from Gansbaai, 160km from Cape Town. Dyer island is just off the coast and is home to one of the largest seal colonies in Southern Africa. The approximately 60 000 seals provide the main diet of the Great White Shark. The channel that intersects this island is called Shark Alley.[bscolumns class="one_half"]
Our full day tour provides the following:
  • Door to door transfer from Cape Town CBD and surrounding area.
  • A light continental breakfast on arrival
  • A information and safety briefing.
  • 3-5 hours at sea
  • Cinematographer to capture all the action
  • Experienced dive master and skipper
  • 7mm wet suit with mask and snorkel
  • Our 6 man cage allows you to have several dives/li>
  • Our biggest boat only take 20 clients.
On return to shore a light lunch is served. As the Great White shark is a surface feeder, diving certification is not required as the dive is a surface float. Our rack rate price is R1650 including transport. If your clients self drive the price is R1350. Your commission rate is 20%. You may discount these prices by up to R300 to get the sale.

Some Notes:

Pickup Location: We pick up from the CBD and the Atlantic Seaboard. In areas outside of this zone we have pickup points.:
  • Southern Suburbs we pick up at the Newlands Southern Sun, Main Road, Newlands.
  • Western Seaboard we pick up at Lagoon Beach Hotel, Lagoon beach Road, Milnerton
  • Northern Suburbs we pick up at Parc du Cap, Mispel Road, Belville
  • Somerset West and Stellenbosch we pick up at the Lord Charles Hotel
Contact Number: We prefer to have the mobile number of the client so that we can send confirmation times via sms. This also helps if there are any problems with the pickups. You can request that we give you the time but note that these times can be very early in the morning. Pick up can be as early as 3am and as late as 10 am. The Whole trip is about 10 hours from pickup to drop off. Payment to be collected: Our preference is that you take your part of the payment as a deposit. We will then collect the balance directly from the client. If you wish us to take full payment, please take credit details from the client as security. “No Shows” will be charged for. Cancellation are accepted until 18:00 the evening before the dive.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How will I know what time I am being picked up or should meet at the dive House? We will send you an sms by 18:00 on the evening before your dive. This could be as early as 4am or as late as Noon am. How long is the trip? The full day including return transfer to Cape Town is about 10 Hours. Can I bring my camera? You welcome to bring your own camera. Digital underwater cameras are available for hire at R400. You get to keep the memory card. The Trip DVD is an optional extra. What should I do if I suffer from motion sickness (sea Sickness)? Motion Sickness tablets are available from most pharmacies. What happens if my preferred date is cancelled due to weather? As shark diving is subject to the weather and sea conditions, another date will offered to you. What happens if we do not see sharks?  We have a 99% success rate so this is a very rare occurrence What Should I bring with me? Bring your swimming costume, Warm clothes to change into, windbreaker, hat, sunscreen The sea wind can be chilly and the sun burns more when at sea. What are the age limits? No Children under 5 allowed on the boat. Children must be 10 years or older to go in the cage. Baby sitting is not available. Is there a price reduction if I do not dive? No, the Great White Shark is a surface feeder and the viewing from the boat is excellent. Most people climb in the cage once they see how safe it is. Our cost for fuel and food is the same.
